At yesterday’s bargaining session, we reached a tentative agreement on Article 32: Salary Overpayment Recovery. This article updates the cap of vacation hours we can use as repayment when overpayment occurs (240 → 280 hours to reflect changes in state law). Management also updated their proposal for Article 39: Union Rights after a detailed discussion on how our job positions are described in our contract.
We’ve now passed over 38 articles. Management still owes us 17 and is sitting on numerous unfulfilled information requests from our bargaining team, which prevents us from finishing proposals. If we want to get through negotiations quickly, we need to make sure they feel the urgency. Two ways to turn up the pressure right now
1. Show up for the Affordability Forum on May 27th! Take 10 seconds to RSVP right now and message all of your RS coworkers to come with you. Click the image below to RSVP:

2. Not yet a member? Join today. Your membership is a direct signal that we’re in this together. And if you’re already in, take 5 minutes this week to tell a coworker why union membership matters to you.

Joint Bargaining with Postdocs
We’ve also secured agreement from management to jointly bargain the following articles with the Postdoc Unit:
- Empowering Prevention and Inclusive Communities (EPIC) Training
- Health and Safety
- Equity Survey
- Reasonable Accommodations
- Non-discrimination and Harassment
This is the first time management has agreed to joint bargaining with our units and is an exciting opportunity to demonstrate our shared demands as UW workers.
United we bargain, divided we beg!
In solidarity,
Your Bargaining Team
